Cookie Policy

What this covers

This explains the cookies and similar browser-storage technologies FlightMVP uses, and your choices. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

The short version

FlightMVP uses only strictly necessary cookies (to keep you signed in) and stores some functional preferences in your browser. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and our analytics (Plausible) does not use cookies at all. Because of this, we do not show a consent pop-up — but we set out here exactly what is stored and how to control it.

1. Strictly necessary cookies

These are required for the site to work and are exempt from consent.

  • Authentication session cookie (set by our sign-in system) — keeps you logged in. It is http-only and secure, and expires after 7 days. Related security cookies may be set during sign-in to protect the login process.

2. Functional storage (in your browser)

These are stored locally in your browser (not sent to us as account data) to remember your preferences. They contain no personal information beyond choices you make (such as a country code):

  • Theme (light or dark) preference
  • Whether you have seen the first-visit introduction
  • Map display options (for example hiding minor airports, and climate units)
  • A remembered passport country for the visa overlay
  • Your daily free-overlay usage count
  • Whether you have dismissed our cookie notice

You can clear these at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

3. Analytics — no cookies

We use Plausible Analytics, which is privacy-focused: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and collects only anonymous, aggregate statistics. It cannot identify you.

4. Third-party cookies during sign-in

If you choose Sign in with Google, Google may set its own cookies on its own domains as part of that process. These are governed by Google's privacy and cookie policies, not ours.

5. The map

The interactive map is provided by Mapbox, which loads map data from Mapbox's servers and may collect anonymous usage data in line with its own privacy policy. We do not use that data.

6. Future advertising

If we introduce advertising on certain pages in future, we will add a proper consent-management tool and update this policy before any advertising cookies are used.

7. Controlling cookies

You can block or delete cookies and clear local storage through your browser settings. Blocking the strictly-necessary authentication cookie will prevent you from staying signed in.
